The Alchemy of Cold Wax

Working with cold wax medium has completely transformed my relationship with oil paint. It adds a physical, sculptural quality to the work that I never found with traditional mediums alone.

The Mix

I typically mix about 50% wax to 50% paint. This creates a thick, buttery paste that holds its shape and allows for incredible layering.

The Layering

The beauty of this process is the history it builds. I can layer, scrape, and re-apply until the painting feels like a physical object rather than just a surface.
